Box

November 2012 - February 2015

In 2012 I moved to the West Coast to work for Box, a rapidly-growing enterprise content management platform. I learned a great deal about product development processes and had the opportunity to work with an exceedingly talented team of Designers and Engineers.

Box Sync

Box Sync is an application for Mac and Windows that enables users to sync files between their computer and the cloud. I worked with the engineering team as they re-wrote the codebase to make sure the end product felt seamless and invisible to the user.

Most of the design and research work went into figuring out how web-based collaboration and customization features would translate to a desktop environment. We also took a great deal of care to either avoid edge cases or handle the ones we had gracefully.

Web Application

I worked on a number of features across Box’s web application including security settings in the admin console, updates to the in-app notification experience, redesign of the header, and collaboration features for the file preview interface.

Upgrade Flow Improvements

The goal of this project was to increase conversions from free to paid plans. Users were dropping out of our conversion flow at a high rate - only about .5% of users who clicked on the “Upgrade” button in our app actually converted to a paid plan.

I worked with our PM’s and Engineers to perform multiple rounds of design iteration and AB testing. We eventually were able to increase the conversion rate to about 3.9%.
